This new batch of concept art by the Panzer Dragoon: Remake team shows us enemies from the game's Episode 2! But what exactly do we know about these mutated creatures?
The Panzer Dragoon: Remake team has released the sixth batch of concept art and 3D model screenshots, and this time it features enemies from the game’s Episode 2! There’s one 3D model that depicts the “simurgh”, a mutated creature that can be seen flying gracefully through the sky. When it’s flying in the caves (which are actually petrified forests) that are found throughout the desert. the luminescent cells in its body will glow in the dark. The latter isn’t actually something that’s noticeable in the original game, so it’ll be interesting to see if the remake will add this particular detail.
The other two images are a concept art and 3D model of a creature simply known as a “sand insect”, which lives in the deserts’ petrified forests. While it can’t fly, it can burrow and emerge from the sand to leap at its enemies, as Kyle and his dragon find out while flying through the cave in Episode 2.
In comparison to the original game, the game adds some color and a ton of detail to the sand insect while also faithfully updating the simurgh. The translation from the remake’s concept art to 3D model also appears to be handled very well, as evidenced by the sand insect images. It makes us look forward to seeing the update of one of episode 2’s most iconic enemies, and one we encounter in other Panzer Dragoon games as well: the sand worm.
