Famitsu has revealed the release date of Crimson Dragon, the upcoming rail shooter for Xbox Live Arcade from Yukio Futatsugi. The game will be released on the 13th of June, 2012. Not very far away at all! The Google translation of Famitsu says that, “Microsoft Japan has announced that the delivery from Wednesday 13 June 2012 in Japan, the title of “Crimson Dragon” dedicated Xbox LIVE Arcade Kinect”, so it appears that this may only be the Japanese release date. We may have to wait some time until the game is translated into English, however this announcement doesn’t rule out the possibility of a worldwide release on June the 13th. I’ll try to find out what is happening with Crimson Dragon’s release in other regions and report back here once I know more.
Also revealed was the price: 1200 Microsoft Points. Considering that this is a fully 3D game with impressive visuals and a unique control scheme, the price point seems very reasonable. Compared to other rail shooters such as Child of Eden it will likely be considered a bargain, although of course we will have to wait and play the final game before determining its true quality.
There are also some stunning screenshots of different dragon types displayed on Famitsu’s website, as well as some related art. Be sure to check those out too. I especially like this screenshot of a horned dragon.
