A bio-engineered creature that has the ability to project a protective force field to protect itself from enemy attacks. The shield acts to greatly distort the polarization of light, therefore rendering useless any optical weapons such as lasers. It is believed that they operated as front line units, providing cover for the more powerful creatures with ranged attacks.
