The poem can be seen from the dragon's point of view, or each stanza could represent a change in perspective from one character (whose identity is decided by the reader) to another.
I see no light in my voyage,
Blind to my own existence.
I stay alive by my only will,
That endless sorrow deepens.
A past of lies,
A future unknown.
War is the only constant,
Death is its only prize.
I now lay at the edge of my time,
The light engulfing,
I shall rise,
And I shall lead.
The empire I knew,
Thou will bleed.
I will return, to take my place,
What I have known to free the truth,
For I will soar and fly,
The lies under my hand will die.
